Our studio is built on a strong foundation of community building and future planning. We use the transformative power of design to bring people together and create a sense of belonging. Borough is a new and forward-thinking interior design studio that creates beautiful spaces and empowers communities.

We believe human connection and happiness is enhanced through thoughtful and purposeful design, and good design should be accessible to all. We do this through research and collaborative community building.

By listening to the needs of our clients and creating design solutions that support individuals as well as the surrounding community, we achieve harmony of form and function, which, in turn, enriches people’s lives, sense of security, confidence and human connection. This strengthens well being, sustains purpose and happiness, and promotes community cohesion.

The Founder: Janna Stark

Janna has a diverse personal and professional background that informs the studio’s unique philosophy and practice. She spent her childhood in northern California and London with an artist mom and scientist dad. This upbringing shaped her appreciation for the connection between art and science, which now guides her design approach. She values both creativity and research, recognizing their importance in design, building community and promoting sustainability. With a professional background in journalism, advertising, fashion design and trend forecasting, Janna has gained a diverse range of skills and experiences that have informed her as an interior designer. Her in-depth study of human behavior in the context of socio-cultural change has given her unique insight into the needs of people and communities.
